Principal’s Update – 1 Sept 2021

01 September 2021

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,

Firstly today our thoughts are very much with our students and families affected by the terrible flooding yesterday in Kumeu and surrounding areas. What an awful situation to deal with on top of Level 4 restrictions. We hope you are all now safe, well, warm and dry. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you at this time.

As you will be aware from the announcement on Monday, Auckland will be remaining at Alert Level 4 for a further two weeks with the Government reviewing this decision on Monday, 13 September 2021. While this news was expected it can be upsetting. We know how difficult it can be to juggle everything at home in these challenging circumstances and our thoughts are with you all.

If you are needing support, please click here to see a list is resources and supports available to you. Additionally, as shared with you last week, if you or anyone you know is finding the lockdown difficult and are experiencing some disconnectedness from friends and family please click here to see a document from the Ministry of Health regarding looking after your mental wellbeing.

We have now been through two very challenging weeks. During this time, we hope you have found some form of routine that works for you and your family and that this routine helps to make the next two weeks fly by.

Let’s hope with the first day of Spring we have some beautiful spring weather ahead of us to enjoy.

Please take care and let us know if there is anything you need to support you and your children during this time.

Ngā mihi nui,

Raewyn Matthys-Morris
