23 August 2021
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
As you will all be aware the Prime Minister has this afternoon advised that Auckland will be remaining at Alert Level 4 until 11.59pm Tuesday 31 August 2021 and this decision will be reviewed by the Government on Monday, 30 August 2021.
As stated in our previous communications, we had planned for this outcome and will continue to provide distance learning and welfare support to our amazing children and their families.
Regarding HERO and your child’s online learning, please remember that what is posted each day is only a guide. There is no requirement to complete everything. We understand that this is a difficult time and families are juggling many priorities so please, just do whatever is manageable for you, your children and your family.
We understand that some families are having issues with accessing zoom through your Chromebooks. Please see the screenshot below which shows you an alternative place to click and which may assist you to log in:
If you are having any other issues with HERO or Zoom then please reach out to Molly mfletcher@whenuapai.school.nz or Jo pa@whenuapai.school.nz as there should be an easy fix to the problem and we are here to help you with that.
A couple of additional messages for families:
Please remember that at Alert Level 4, the school grounds and playground are closed.
To our new entrant children and their families who are due to start their school journey with us on Monday 30 August 2021, today you will have received an email from Jenny Cornish, our New Entrant Transition Leader, with a plan for Monday. We very much look forward to you joining our school (virtually) next week.
The Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday night, 25 August 2021, will go ahead at 6.00pm via zoom. Please email Jo at pa@whenuapai.school.nz if you wish to attend and she will forward a meeting link to you.
For those students registered for ICAS assessments – these have been postponed for now and a new four-week assessment window will be opened in October to complete these. We will communicate the new dates with you once these have been confirmed.
Finally a special message to our Defence Force families. We understand that this is an extremely difficult time for many of our families who are involved with the deployment of an RNZAF Hercules and troops to Afghanistan. We would like to extend our thoughts to the crew, service personnel on board and those family members and friends back home supporting this deployment. For any of our families impacted by this, we are here for you. Please reach out to your teachers or to Molly or myself, if there is anything we can do to support you and your children.
As always, please let us know if there is anything you need to support you and your children during this time.
Ngā mihi nui,
Raewyn Matthys-Morris
Principal
